Variegated Sunflower

Are you the variegated kind?

Variegated Sunflower

A new friend, Linda Richardson, posted this beautiful picture on Facebook and she has given me permission to use it in this blog.

  • Exhibiting different colors, especially as irregular patches or streaks
  • Botany (of a plant or foliage) having or consisting of leaves that are edged or patterned in a second color, especially white as well as green
  • Marked by variety

According to the webpage, “SUNFLOWERS symbolize adoration, loyalty and longevity. Sunflowers are known for being “happy” flowers, making them the perfect gift to bring joy. You will also notice that all sunflowers turn toward the sun.

I was so struck by the colors, intricacy inside and outside the flower, ever detail and thought to myself, “Wow, what a creative God to create such beauty in one flower. When I think about all the different flowers, trees, mountains, sky, stars, sun and the moon, again my breath is taken away and I am totally in love with the Creator who created such beauty.

Then I thought about you. How very special you are and how unique you are. You are not a cookie cutter human, but God took the time to create you just the way you are. There’s no time for comparison! We are here for a purpose to bring joy to a world that is lost and without life in many ways. We need more Sunflowers to shine and reflect the SON of God. Stand tall and reach to the One who created you. Your uniqueness was planned from the beginning. There is no one like you!

So if you are feeling down, insecure, lifeless, and without hope go look at pictures of Sunflowers – they could be those people surrounding you. Take the time to look in the mirror and know you are variegated. God took the effort by knitting you in your mother’s womb and everything He does is good.

Isaiah 42:5 “Thus says God, the LORD who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and what comes from it, who gives breath to the people on it and spirit to those who walk in it.” ESV

Psalm 139:13 “For you formed my inward parts, you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.” ESV

Ephesians 2:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” ESV
